Transforming Bland to Bold: A Bathroom Remodel Journey

Why remodel?

Homeowners were ready to upgrade their bathroom and switch up the functionally of the space. They were tired of their bland outdated space and were ready for a new, bold space with different fixtures. Chris Kuhr, SKYLINE ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS LTD Consultant and his team developed a design, plan and budget for the remodel. Once all preplanning was finalized, the remodel was underway! 

Build Stage 

This bathroom received a full demo, including the flooring, leaving the space as a blank canvas. The new functionality that the homeowners were most excited about was separation of the tub and shower combination. While a tub and shower combined fixture did save space and allow for a second vanity, the homeowners preferred to get rid of additional vanity to make room for a new walk in shower. 

Tiling

To make the space more bold, they choose to tile half the wall with a hexagon floral tile throughout the space, and then pair it with a rich blue paint. Deciding to tile a half wall compared to a full wall can provide homeowners and their space with the following benefits: 

• Will be cheaper, overall speaking, since fewer tiles will need to be purchased and less labor to install 
• With less tiles, installation will take less time 
• More flexibility on creativity - pair the tiles with a combination of paint or wall paper

Vanity & LED Mirror

Another striking part of the bathroom is the vanity and mirror. The homeowners choose to select a pre-built vanity, for it’s modern and rustic flare, providing the space with a touch of warmth. Homeowners treated themselves to a LED Mirror for the following reasons…

• Lighting - LED mirrors give a better uniform and clearer light that copies natural daylight, which is extremely helpful for makeup application and grooming 
• Energy efficient - LED mirrors use less energy, about 80% than traditional light bulbs while providing the same if not better lighting 
• Sturdy - LED lights are last a long time
• Easy installation & comfortable lighting - LED lighting can eliminate the need for installing a light above the vanity, and are easy on the eyes, helping prevent eye strain 

Not only did the Homeowners chose an LED mirror for the practical reasons above, but the LED mirror they chose really suited their overall upgrade of the bathroom they were aiming for, which was a bold and modern atmosphere. 

Finished Bathroom Remodel 

This space was truly transformed from it’s bland style to a rejuvenated bold and modern bathroom. Homeowners now have the functionality of a separate tub and shower fixtures, and are thoroughly enjoying it. They trilled with their choice of the LED mirror for not only it’s stylish appearance but all the benefits it comes with too. Chris Kuhr, Renovation Consultant had this to say about the project…
