Game Room Transformation: Crafting a Custom Bar in Cypress

One aspect that was missing for an ideal game room for Cypress homeowners of this 2017 house was a custom bar addition. They called their local SKYLINE ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS LTD and Robert, a renovation consultant, came out to discuss the project. Robert and his team provided the homeowners with a scope of work, design, budget and timeline for renovations. Once homeowners reviewed and agreed to the final details of renovations, the bar addition began! The owners wanted to watch the budget closely as a new baby was due any day. So, Robert and his team worked closely with the homeowner on design and even found a partial piece of granite to reduce costs.

Renovation Work 

As this space was a ‘blank canvas’ and ready to start on implementing the plan for the custom bar addition, no demo work was necessary. Custom cabinets were measured and built by our cabinet maker. A neat feature of the cabinetry for this project was a hidden door.  The attic access door is masked by a fully functional bookshelf. Homeowners selected the shaker cabinet style. This style is known for its square edges, or box-shaped appearance, providing the space with a simple and clean seamless aesthetic. 

Once cabinets were installed, it was time to measure for granite countertops. Homeowners selected the Ogee countertop edge. This type of edge has a soft S-curve, providing an intricate look. Once countertops were set in place, the new mini beverage fridge was installed, and wooden floating shelves hung on the back wall.  

Due to the imminent birth of the owners child, a planned home birth, and concerns with dust and fumes, all fabrications and painting were completed off site to minimize the potential exposure in the home environment.

Final Results

From the beautiful custom cabinetry and gorgeous granite countertops this custom bar is what the game room was missing. Homeowners are sure to entertain their friends and family in this newly renovated space for years to come.
